MAGD requirements, and what changes in 2029
Mastership is a long road: 1,100 hours as a member, with a real floor on hands-on work. And the rules are moving. If you are on the Mastership path, the 2029 change is worth planning for now.
The requirements
- 1,100 hrsTotal as an AGD member. A continuum that includes the 500 Fellowship hours.
- 400 hrsMinimum hands-on participation.
- PACE / CERPContent must come from approved providers and be scientific and directly related to dentistry.
- 3 yearsContinuous membership; license in good standing.

How many hours do you need for MAGD?
1,100 hours as an AGD member. It is a continuum that includes the 500 hours you earned for Fellowship.
How many hours must be hands-on?
At least 400 of the 1,100 hours must be hands-on participation.
What changes in 2029?
Starting January 1, 2029, Mastership will require 12 participation hours in Sleep Medicine, and the specified discipline hours rise from 568 to 582.
When do Mastership hours start counting?
Mastership specific hours accrue from the date you met the 500-hour Fellowship requirement, as determined by the DE Council.
